Welcome to your Free Taster Lesson!
Here's a lesson direct from the member's area from the 'Vocabulary' section:
Hi! Thanks for signing up and checking out this free taster lesson. I hope you enjoy it.
I was very lucky to be have the opportunity to study with some AMAZING drummers during my career; some of the best ever, like Dave Weckl, Peter Erskine, Thomas Lang, Virgil Donati, Will Kennedy and Chris Coleman. I wanted to share some of the information and inspiration I gained from these lessons and from my playing experiences performing along side some of my musical heroes like Mike Stern, Gary Husband, Mitch Forman and more, to help other drummers become better players.
One common thread I noticed through these lessons and from my own study is that, contrary to a some opinions, what they are playing is not that difficult. Most of the things these great drummers play are fairly simple, it's just that the level of execution is extremely high. It's the way you practice and how you play something that makes the difference. I was never one of those 8-hour-a-day practicers. You can achieve a great deal very quickly if you practice correctly.
There are over 300 lessons in the members area with new content added every month. As a member, you can request lesson topics and post questions or footage of your own playing and where you'll get direct feedback from me.
I'm excited to help you become a better drummer. See you on the other side!

"Louie has helped me realise just how important it is to have a strong foundation, and to play with clarity and conviction. It can be seen from his numerous videos just how superb his technique, sound and playing is. Mikey Ciancio - Leighton Buzzard, UK
"Play Better Drums has been the first online drum lesson forum that has been the easiest to digest in terms of absorbing information and interpreting into your own style. Louie has the ability to inspire focused practice with easy to grasp concepts and lessons. It’s apparent that his playing is the perfect culmination of the hard yards he’s put in, and that alone makes me want to learn from his site. I’ve seen massive improvements in my technique and approach already after 3 months and I’ve only scratched the surface!"
Andy Horvath - Sydney, Australia
"I've been playing drums for 20 years and I've always struggled to find the right teacher or method to accomplish my drumming goals. There were always missing pieces to the puzzle. Very quickly into Louie's program, I realized that he was presenting those missing pieces. This site is no-nonsense, straight-up and to the point. My hands are stronger, my playing is stronger and the tools Louie offers are fantastic. Thanks Louie!"
Dan Seipel - Illinois, USA
"Louie's playing is inspiring, and his detailed instructional videos have allowed me to take a step-by-step approach to developing my vocabulary around the kit. For a long time, I struggled with fluency in higher subdivisions (sixteenth note triplet phrases in particular) and could not find an instructor who could really break it down. The videos on Play Better Drums really pushed me through this challenge and it has opened up my playing to a whole new level of nuance and fluidity. In addition, there is a good library of basic coordination work, some tough backing tracks, and a detailed hand technique series. The 'lick of the month' series features the playing of drummers who have inspired me since I picked up my first pair of sticks, and learning these phrases has been very rewarding. If you love Louie's playing or look up to other professionals in the genre, this is the place to study."
